THE new Shields Ferry has been painted in patriotic red, white and blue ready for its arrival on the Tyne later this year.
Nexus project manager Alan Parks, of South Shields, took these photographs of the ferry's new livery this week.
The [pounds sterling]1.9m ferry, named Spirit of the Tyne by Gazette readers, is at the VT Halmatic Portchester Shipyard at Portsmouth being fitted out ahead of its maiden passenger voyage early next year.
Mr Parks said: "I was really pleased to be able to get these photographs during my latest visit to the shipyard.
"Seeing the ferry painted gives a really good idea what it will look like on the river."
