Alimama-Taobao merger will optimize ad sales
Shanghai. September 5. INTERFAX-CHINA - The merger of Alibaba Group's online advertising transaction platform Alimama.com and its e-commerce platform Taobao.com will lead to significant opportunities for revenue growth, an analyst told Interfax on Sep. 5.
According to Wang Fang, an analyst with iResearch, the merger will help Taobao expand its advertising, which is important to the company as its sole source of revenue. In return, Alimama will see increased use of its system by Taobao traders, who can use Alimama to advertise on external Web sites.
