THE name may be unfamiliar to most, but for nearly two decades Dave Tucker has been one of the most influential behind-the-scenes voices in Sheffield schools.
Sorting out the problems of his 2,000-plus members is a full time job in itself - he dealt with over 900 cases alone during 2006.
But Dave has also been involved in most of the key issues affecting education across the city, giving advice and constructive criticism to those making the key decisions.
"You always know you can have a proper conversation with Dave," says one local authority insider. "He doesn't oppose change for the sake of it and his opinions are always worth listening to."
