CANOES HAUL. NOT HAUL AS IN GO FAST. HAUL as in tote, lug, carry, transport. A properly designed 16-foot canoe can accommodate half a ton of people and gear and still be seaworthy. (Note I say well designed. A $300 floating beer can--remember those canoes decorated with Bud labels?--will sink faster than the Lusitania under half that load.)
This means when you go camping in a canoe you can take an inordinate amount of gear. And enough of the right gear puts a different spin on camping. It affords comfort, safety, and great entertainment in the form of fishing or hunting. So a good canoe is one of the best investments an outdoorsman can make.
