Article: Data on air cleaner costs misleading. (Honeywell chart of 10-year expenses for owning non-electronic air cleaners)(Column)

Any hvac dealer familiar with high-efficiency air cleaners must have been barried by the "10-Year Cost of Ownership" chart printed by The News in the March 25 issue.

The chart, which was provided by Honeywell, used faulty assumptions and inapplicable studies to try to make electronic air cleaners look inexpensive and all other air cleaners look expensive and ineffective. Like most efforts to try to turn reality on its head, this one was obviously so wrong that we are sure your average reader found it just as hard to believe as we did.
