Two-year-old Daniel Saayman was playing happily at his parents' beachfront flat just days after being trapped in the door of a lift that plunged six storeys. The boy ended up on the roof of the lift at Grandborough Court on the Durban beachfront.
"It was as if God grabbed him and put him safely there," his father Gerhard said.
Witnesses said it was a miracle that Daniel had emerged with only a few bruises.
Still very shaken from Tuesday night's incident, Gerhard and his wife, Belinda, described what had happened.
