COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--Jul. 3--Conoco Inc. is bringing "green" oil to Colorado Springs.

Actually, the biodegradable oil that went on sale Tuesday at 19 El Paso County stations is sort of a blue-green color.

Conoco's synthetically produced oil is designed for use in two-cycle engines that power lawn mowers, grass trimmers, chain saws, some motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, snowmobiles and boats.

The Conoco oil contains no solvents and laboratory tests show that, if spilled, more than 90 percent of it breaks down within three weeks. The company said the synthetic product also produces fewer hydrocarbon emissions than mineral-based oils.
