ALMOST 200 prisoners have absconded from South Yorkshire's Moorland Open Prison in three years, The Star can reveal.
Government figures show 190 inmates have made off from the Doncaster jail, with the number recaptured not recorded.
But jail officials claim "most will have been returned to a closed prison at some point".
Prisoners are sent to open jails towards the end of their sentences to reintegrate back into society. The Star revealed earlier this year that eight inmates from Moorland were being employed as binmen in Doncaster.
