A NEW Air Ambulance is heading to South Yorkshire thanks to a nationwide fundraising bid.
The region is set to benefit after donations from the public allowed Yorkshire Air Ambulance to fund a second emergency helicopter to help people in need in South Yorkshire.
Cash came flooding in to fund the chopper under the Richard Hammond Appeal which was started after the TV presenter was involved in a 300mph crash in York.
The 36-year-old was flown by the YAA's only helicopter to Leeds where he was treated for brain injuries and made a speedy recovery after receiving prompt treatment. The service depends on donations to survive.
