A GRIEVING husband has vowed to carry on campaigning for life-prolonging medication to be widely available after his wife fell victim to a "drugs lottery".
Alison Prentice, aged 59, was denied the drug Velcade during her three-year battle with multiple myeloma and died this week at Sheffield's Hallamshire Hospital.
Now her widower, John, is calling for a change in the "postcode lottery" funding system.
Alison, of Brookside Glen, Chesterfield, had appealed to North Derbyshire Primary Care Trust in early November for Velcade, which had been recommended by a consultant and is available in other parts of the country.
