PARENTS of a South Yorkshire student killed in a roller coaster crash today called on people to boycott the theme park where the tragedy occurred - after branding fines imposed on those responsible "derisory".
Gemma Savage, aged 20, from Wath-on-Dearne, was killed when two cars collided on the Treetop Twister ride at Lightwater Valley, North Yorkshire, in the summer of 2001.
The theme park was yesterday fined [pounds sterling]35,000 with [pounds sterling]40,000 costs, and a penalty of [pounds sterling]2,500 was imposed against maintenance electrician Eric Butters.
Both had admitted breaching health and safety laws.
