THE number of taxi ranks in Sheffield is to be increased because late pub opening hours mean more people are hailing cabs.
Councillors at Sheffield Council's Cabinet will next week discuss plans to increase the number of ranks to solve the problem.
Under the plan, dubbed the Sheffield Taxi Strategy, there will be a number of small-scale improvements to the seven existing public ranks at Boston Street, Ecclesall Road, Glossop Road, Leadmill Road, Queens Road, Walker Street and Weston Bank. But there will also be 17 new ranks in areas like Ecclesall Road near to Champs and the Nursery Tavern, Hillsborough/ Bradfield Road, Broomhill, Queens Road, ...
