ROTHERHAM'S Lord Ahmed has taken part in an overseas debate on whether Muslim women should wear the controversial niqab.
Lord Ahmed, one of Tony Blair's first "people's peers", travelled to the Middle East for the discussion.
The former Rotherham councillor has been outspoken in the past on the terrorism threat and integration within the Muslim community. He has also spoken out against the wearing of the niqab.
In the debate in Qatar Lord Ahmed spoke in favour of a motion that claimed wearing the niqab was a barrier against integration.
