Government plans to increase the use of nuclear power could mean new jobs and additional job security for South Yorkshire, according to Master Cutler Alan Reid.
Mr Reid has welcomed the news that more of the UK's energy will come from nuclear power.
"Given the need to free ourselves from any possible threat of energy blackmail by overseas suppliers, Britain needs a sure source of mainstream energy for homes and industry," said Mr Reid.
"Only nuclear power can offer such a secure route, and should rank alongside renewable energy sources as the wellspring of our energy needs from 2015 onwards."
