THE minister who led the Governments campaign for the Lisbon Treaty has admitted it is unreadable and wide open to deliberate misrepresentation and misinterpretation.

European Affairs Minister Dick Roche called for a shorter and clearer version of the treaty that would be easier for voters to understand.

Speaking to senior German diplomats in Berlin yesterday, Mr Roche set out his demand for a 10-page plain language version of the treaty to be produced before it put to the vote in any second referendum.

But the ministers new stance has bemused No campaigners.
