COUNCILLORS are set to call time on outdoor boozing in Wakefield city centre.
Wakefield Council is likely to approve plans for an alcohol exclusion zone for the whole of the city centre at a meeting next week.
The measure is designed to combat drink-related anti-social behaviour.
It would give police powers to confiscate alcohol from anyone caught drinking on the street within the zone, which would include Westgate.
The area is bounded by Ings Road, Back Lane, Cliff Parade, Bond Terrace, Rishworth Street, Northgate, Marsh Way and Kirkgate.
Anyone who refused to hand over the booze could be hit with a [pounds sterling]500 ...
