A FACTORY in Horbury is to be bulldozed after more than 70 years of rug-making in the town.
Readicut, which was founded in Wakefield by Ralph Hirst, has been at the Terry Mills site, Westfield Road, Horbury, since 1935.
At its height in the 1970s the company had several factories in the district manufacturing rug kits and was a multi-million pound industry.
But when Persimmon Homes was given permission in November to build 70 new homes on the site within the next five years, it sounded the death knell for the run-down building.
