SCARBOROUGH Council has come under fire for failing to back an ambitious Whitby bid for [pounds sterling]50m of Lottery funding.
Whitby Beacon Town Forum is bidding for the cash to build a new version of Cook's ship the Resolution along with an ecological and marine heritage site.
To be in with a chance of securing Lottery funding members have to demonstrate the scheme has the backing of local partners.
All the major organisations approached by the forum have sent letters expressing support in principle for the project - except Scarborough Council.
