A MASSIVE tightening-up on planning regulations in conservation areas in the North York Moors National Park is to go ahead on a trial basis.
It will mean national park residents in 11 conservation areas in villages around Whitby and in the Esk Valley will in future need planning permission for minor alterations to their property.
These alterations have previously been allowed as permitted development on houses facing onto a highway, waterway or other important local space.
