THE eight yachts that ventured out for the first of the summer series were surprised to be greeted by clear visibility after the overnight fog - and course 11 was quickly selected which provided for a biased windward start and a beat down to sandsend.
At the start an inevitable dash for the favoured outer end resulted in Ace, Glisk and No Compromise getting the hole shot with a little protesting for rights at the mark.
The second wave, a couple of boat lengths behind, was led by Esk Argo which approached the outer mark on the lay line and forced the barging Icon to turn away, following a brief verbal exchange, to start from the ...
