Caterpillar has announced it will exit the North American heavy-duty diesel truck engine market by 2010. However, Caterpillar and its dealers will continue to provide product support and service beyond 2010 for all Caterpillar on-highway engines regardless of truck brand.

The decision will put an end to Caterpillar's more than 40 years as a supplier of heavy-duty diesel on-highway truck engines, and will leave Cummins as the sole independent supplier of such engines.
