There are four points where a driver connects with a car (five if you count the seat of the pants). And if those points are cool, comfortable and not fatigued, the driver will be more connected to the carand in better control. Driving shoes are meant to protect some of those points while still giving the tactile sensation needed for small throttle changes or heel-and-toe shifting. They come in all colors of leather and suede, and some look just as good with jeans or khakis as they do with a driving suit.
