The construction of Kampala Hilton Hotel, based at the former premises of Uganda Broadcasting Corporation, has been halted with reports that the project has been abruptly crippled by a severe cash crunch.

According to sources with insider information on the financial problems plaguing the project, workers recently staged a weeklong strike protesting delays in payment of their wages.

However, according to these sources, management quickly mobilised some emergency cash and cleared some of the longstanding debts, prompting workers to resume work.
