NEW YORK - It wasn't always chandeliers and plush carpets, fashion shows and cappuccino.
When the Fashion Coterie, a twice-yearly trade show for the upscale crowd got started 10 years ago, it was a bare bones operation, according to its founder and president, Elyse Kroll.
"I remember our first day, at the Omni Park Central," said Kroll in a recent interview in her East 54th Street offices, recalling her experiences in helping to shape the New York trade show business. My mother was sitting at a table opposite the elevator with a box of pens and a bowl of candy. I was shaking the whole day."
