  Year-To-Date and Second Quarter 1996 Results 

SEATTLE, July 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Plum Creek Timber Company, L.P. (NYSE: PCL) announced today that it would increase its quarterly distribution to Unitholders 4% from $0.49 per Unit to $0.51 per Unit. The distribution will be paid on August 23, 1996 to Unitholders of record as of August 16, 1996.

"The increase in the distribution reflects our ongoing commitment to return value to our owners. Our diverse operations continue to generate cash flow that provides for a stable and reliable distribution to Unitholders," said Rick R. Holley, President and Chief Executive Officer.
