Sam Veit, 35, teaches a direct retailing class every Monday on the University of Wisconsin campus. Few students are likely to make the connection between their lecturer, the 5-foot-9 Veit, and the 1993 Big Ten championship season and Rose Bowl for the UW football team.
But if they really did their homework and delved into some Badger football history, they would learn that the unassuming Veit, a former walk-on, had an integral role in the success of that '93 team. He was the punter.
