WOONSOCKET, R.I. -- Pharmacy had always been at the core of CVS Corp.'s business, and its merger with Caremark Rx Inc. a little over a year ago has only strengthened that focus.
The objective of the deal that created CVS Caremark Corp. was to eliminate complexities in the prescription drug delivery system by lowering costs, making prescription drugs more accessible to more people and improving patient outcomes, according to chairman, president and chief executive officer Tom Ryan.
