Niche Industries Represent Future Job Potential in Oregon.(Originated from The Register-Guard, Eugene, Ore.)

EUGENE, Ore.--Jul. 13--If you're wondering about your job prospects for the next decade and want to stick with the herd of other job seekers, you'd best head into retail sales, office clerical work, or semiconductor processing. The state Employment Department says those areas will generate the most new jobs in Oregon in coming years.

But if you want to stray from the beaten path, take a look at the state's list of so-called emerging occupations. These are small but fast-growing sectors that seldom garner much attention.
