ELLIS ISLAND _ With the Manhattan skyline in the background, lawyers for the state of New Jersey hosted a walking tour of this historic island Monday in an effort to show where New York's boundary line ended _ and New Jersey's began _ under an 1834 agreement between the two states.
But even before the tour got under way in the landmark trial over which state has jurisdiction over a big chunk of the island, New York was waging a war of words at the ferry landing, where millions of immigrants once arrived with hopes of new opportunity in America.
