GAITHERSBURG, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 17, 1996--Lockheed Martin Federal Systems, a business unit of Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE: LMT), has won a five-year contract to upgrade the scheduling and satellite operations systems for the U.S. Air Force's Satellite Control Network (SCN), whose satellites perform communications, weather, surveillance and special missions for the U.S. Department of Defense, NASA and NATO. Federal Systems will replace an older, manually intensive system for communicating with satellites with new automation technologies that will reduce operator workload, lower costs and make network operations more efficient.
