Flamingo expert Mark Anderson is set to receive an international award in Madagascar next week for his acclaimed work to protect South Africa's only nesting site for lesser flamingos.
The ornithologist will be awarded the annual African-Eurasian Waterbird Agreement Waterbird Conservation Award for his work at Kamfers Dam in Kimberley, which supports the largest permanent population of lesser flamingoes in Southern Africa.
