NORFOLK, Va.--Jul. 18--Commerce Bank's 21 Hampton Roads branches will reopen on Monday as BB&T of Virginia, following through on BB&T's acquisition of the Virginia Beach-based bank a year and a half ago.
For customers, the change will be largely transparent, said G. Robert Aston Jr., president and CEO of Commerce Bank.
But for Commerce Bank, it means joining a larger organization that will give it access to about 100 new services and raise its legal lending limit from $6 million to $50 million. Commerce Bank has four Peninsula branches: two in Newport News, one in Hampton and one in Grafton.
