PARIS - Buyers have long known there is no such thing as a free lunch, and soon, maybe no free trade-fair entry either.
A toll-free entrance is becoming something of a rarity in the European trade-show business.
The Germans pioneered the pay-as-you-go policy years ago, but this season the Italians, with Pitti Uomo, and the French, with SEHM, are establishing cost-defraying entrance fees.
The UK, which this season has two shows running simultaneously in London from Sept. 1-3, doesn't want to discourage the trade from visiting either venue. So, unlike their counterparts on the Continent, both the new 40 Degrees fair and the Premier Menswear Collections ...
