Levine, Allison and Crossan, three Historical Jesus scholars with very different perspectives on the Historical Jesus, oversee this collection of essays. What they strive to offer is a lengthy series of relatively short (average of 13 pages) background papers on what one needs to know in order to understand the historical Jesus.
