U.K. automotive and aerospace parts maker GKN PLC ( GKN.LN) said Monday it has agreed to buy the wing component manufacturing business of European plane maker Airbus for GBP136 million.
The business, based in Filton, Southwest England, employs 1,500 people making metallic wing components and assemblies for the full range of Airbus aircraft.
GKN was selected by Airbus - a unit of European Aeronautic Defence and Space NV Co (5730.FR) - as its preferred bidder for the Filton plant in December last year. Airbus said at the time the deal would conclude in the summer of 2008. GKN said Monday it expected to complete the deal by the ...
