NEW YORK - Call it the new generation of lace. For spring '97, lacemakers are outdoing themselves with creative and unexpectedly innovative looks.
And the timing couldn't be better. Over the past couple of seasons, lace has found its way back into the realm of everyday streetwear, raising its profile above and beyond the usual venues of the boudoir or soiree. It's this recent run on lace that's left designers craving something a little bit different for next season.
