You've probably read about how the Universal Serial Bus (USB) specification will end desktop cable clutter, as it will offer a speedy PC equivalent to the Mac's Apple Desktop Bus (ADB) port and allow users to daisy-chain up to 127 plug-and-play peripherals. But despite a development committee that includes everyone from IBM Corp., Intel Corp., and Microsoft Corp. to Digital Equipment Corp. and Northern Telecom, analysts say that USB's arrival date is at least another year away.
