BOYLSTON - The state police academy at the Hillside will be open for another year, after Gov. Deval L. Patrick promised the state would close a $500,000 budget shortfall.
The Municipal Police Training Committee voted last week to reverse its August vote to close the facility in Boylston, as well as others in New Bedford and Plymouth. The original vote was made to close the budget gap. The cut also had threatened to reduce the number of training days per year for veteran police officers from four to three, and eliminate or severely curtail specialty training on issues such as domestic violence, cyber crime, hate crimes and suicide ...
