In the '50s, the saying was: "An apple a day keeps the doctor away." In the '90s, that same saying might shift to: "A cup of capuacu a day keeps the doctor away."
Beverage marketers sure hope so. No longer limited to grape, apple or orange, beverage makers today are offering a bevy of fruit flavors and combinations. It's not unusual to come across pairings such as kiwi strawberry, guava pineapple, and capuacu (a healthful tropical fruit) and orange. Some marketers are touting the health benefits of fruit and vegetable concoctions. These benefits may also be added in the form of fortifiers. (See chart page 60).
