When Mariano Meconi started making wine, Woodrow Wilson was president, Rudolph Valentino was heating up the silver screen and it cost two cents to mail a letter. The year was 1921 and the young Italian immigrant found himself in the wine-making business alter over-speculating on grapes and ending up with the better part of a railroad car full of ripe Concords.
