TURKMENISTAN - The Power Sector.

Turkmenistan is more than self-sufficient in electrical power generation, producing about 14 bn Kwh annually. The country exports power to Afghanistan, Armenia, Iran and Turkey.

Turkey recently asked for an increase in the quantity of electricity purchased from Turkmenistan. Turkey has been purchasing 600m Kwh annually from this country since 2003. Afghanistan, which imports 200m Kwh, is also asking for an increase in power supplies from Turkmenistan.
