Peruvian steelmaker Aceros Arequipa said it has not received any formal offers from Brazilians Gerdau and Votorantim, or Chilean company CAP to form partnerships.
In a statement, Aceros Arequipa refuted press reports stating the companies could be eyeing the Peruvian. Gerdau, Latin America's largest steelmaker, in Peru controls the country's biggest steelmaker Siderperu, which like Aceros Arequipa has announced expansions to satisfy booming internal construction demand.
Gerdau recently told Peruvian President Alan Garcia it wanted to grow Siderperu enough to not only satisfy rocketing domestic demand but to export some as well, ...
