Japanese group Marubeni is looking to expand its presence in Chile's sanitation sector, local paper Diario Financiero reported.
The firm's president in Chile, Hiroshi Watanabe, confirmed the company had interest in Grupo Solari's Aguas Nuevas water firm, which is being acquired by a consortium formed by Japanese firm Mitsui and Australian investment fund Challenger.
According to Watanabe, the firm decided not to pursue the purchase as it considered the price to be too high. Aguas Nuevas comprises water utilities Aguas del Altiplano, Aguas de la Araucania and Aguas de Magallanes. Marubeni has 1% of the country's total market ...
