The lives of more than 36,000 residents on 48 Islands in Kalangala District who have traditionally earned their livelihood from fishing on Lake Victoria could change with the opening of an oil mill mid next year.Bidco Uganda, an oil firm currently running palm oil plantation on the islands, announced last week that the mill would be commissioned in June 2009, the same time when commercial harvesting of palm oil starts.Palm oil is an important vegetable oil rich in vitamins.
