COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--Jul. 22--Like pieces of tile, Judy Wrede's life has fallen into place perfectly.
She was "born drawing," she said, and kept it up throughout her childhood in Pueblo even though others didn't approve.
"In those days, being an artist was being a bum," Wrede said. "It was, 'go to school and become a clerical worker.'"
It's good that Wrede persisted. Today, the tile paintings she creates in her Austin Bluffs-area home are showcased in an international Kohler subsidiary's catalog and Kohler and Frigidaire showrooms; they adorn local Parade of Homes houses; they're to appear in House & Garden magazine this fall; and they've been ...
