COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--Jul. 22--Colorado Springs-based American Telecasting will pay $5.2 million for the rights to launch a wireless cable system in the Cincinnati area.

American Telecasting, the nation's largest wireless cable company, plans to buy 10 wireless cable channels from Cincinnati Wireless Cable Inc. Cincinnati Wireless now serves about 3,000 subscribers, mostly in apartment complexes that each have their own "head end," or transmission equipment.

Cincinnati is one of the few cities in the country that doesn't have a metro-wide wireless cable system, said David Sentman, American Telecasting chief financial officer.
