Although it may be different in other states, we here in Ohio sometimes struggle to find the courage to create long-term solutions. Sometimes we are seduced by those who urge us to draft policies or laws that turn out to be simplistic, pseudo-solutions to juvenile crime.
It is heartening that in Ohio we have begun to lay aside the all too familiar, all too easy bandages that we traditionally have wound around a wounded juvenile justice and corrections system. We are questioning the value of the bandages we have used during these violent, fear-ravaged decades.
