The Federal Trade Commission this week announced it has returned approximately $12.7 million to consumers from a 2006 settlement with Andris Pukke, founder of AmeriDebt Inc. and owner of DebtWorks Inc. In addition, class-action counsel, on behalf of 10 related credit-counseling agencies, will return more than $7 million to consumers as a result of class-action settlements, thus concluding the largest credit-counseling and debt-management deception case the FTC has filed, according to the consumer-protection regulator.
