GROWING UP on the north coast of Northern Ireland, I was surrounded by lovely golf courses like Royal Portrush, Castlerock and Portstewart.
Many of my school friends were, and are, good players but I never took advantage of the wonderful amenities.
Yes, I had a bash round the par threes now and again but I was just as likely to miss the ball altogether as hit the green.
But I'm not going to miss out twice and after 18 years living on England's Golf Coast it is time to get serious and try to learn how to play this wonderfully frustrating game properly.
