SMUGGLED TIRES GRABBING GROWING SHARE OF INDONESIAN MARKET

JAKARTA - Domestic tire sales fell 4 per cent in August with market flooded with cheaper tires allegedly smuggled from China and India, the Indonesian association of tire markers said.

Association chairman Aziz Pane said smuggled tires not up to the Indonesian National Standard have entered the country since July grabbing a substantial share of the domestic market.
